Annual Retreat

September 2022

Info for 2023:  We will again have our Retreat at the Franciscan Retreat Center in northwest Colorado Springs (near Garden of the Gods), Sep 26-28.  Signup is CLOSED - we already have 40 ladies planning to go.  Cost this year is $298/single, $226/double, $202/triple.  This includes the non-refundable $50 deposit for the two sewing rooms, your room and seven meals.  We will have lunch & dinner on Tues (arrival day), three meals on Wed, and breakfast & lunch before we leave on Thurs.  All meals this year will be in the dining room as we are too many to bring lunch trays up to the sewing area.  Your Balance Due must be paid by the July meeting.

We have been asked:  1/ Please do not arrive much before 9:00a. If you arrive early, you will not get started sewing as you will be helping with setup/arrangement of tables!       2/ Please DO NOT stack chairs so that you may sit higher at your machine.  If you need to be "taller", please bring your own extra cushion(s).  3/ Yes, bring your own beer or wine!  But consumption must be kept outside - not in our sewing area.

2022 was our fourth year at the Franciscan Retreat Center in Colorado Springs, with 24 ladies participating this year. We had the same two well-lit rooms for sewing, one with nice windows, but both with good lighting for evening sewing. The hallway between offers a nice coffee bar (with real mugs!) from 6:00a 'til noon, or hot water & a selection of tea - especially nice in the evening.

The sewing areas were available from 9:00a on our first day, thru 5:00p on our last day!  We again had plenty of room to spread out - each quilter had her own table for sewing.  A couple extra tables provided for use of our large cutting mats (one in each room), and one of the extra large ironing tables was also available in each of the two sewing rooms.

While not large, the sleeping rooms are very nice with comfortable beds. Every room has a private bath.  Singles, doubles, and even a few triple rooms are available.

The Dining Room is a short walk, though a few ladies went back/forth by car.  We took only breakfast and dinner in the Dining hall, with a "snack" provided for us in our Sewing area - a deli tray with ham & turkey, several different cheeses plus lettuce and sliced tomatoes, chips and several different breads - and most of us took a plate out to the tables in the courtyard.

Taking a late afternoon break, many of us also enjoyed a glass of wine before dinner - several of us brought a bottle to share.

The grounds are lovely - very peaceful - good for a walk or just a break.
